Slow Cooker Sunday

I had a long list of projects I wanted to tackle this weekend but the rainy weather is limiting my options to those that can take place indoors. One of those items included breaking in my new slow cooker.

I've wanted a slow cooker, or a Crock Pot as it's often called (something brand nerds call "genericide"- when a brand name becomes the commonly used term for a product) for quite some time. This Christmas I got my very first slower cooker.

Today's recipe: Provencal Beef Stew. Coincidentally, just last night the topic of what herbs are included in Herbs de Provance (aka Provencal Herbs). According to Wikipedia, the mixture typically contains savory, fennel, basil, thyme, and lavender flowers and other herbs. Strangely, the recipe I'm following only uses thyme. I think cooking light needs may need to brush up their French cooking.
